President of Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) Samuel Eto’o has said that he does not want to see the national team filled with Cameroonian nationals born abroad because he believes there are enough soccer talents in the country.

“I do not want to have a Kylian Mbappé who was born in Bordeaux in our national team, but to make Kylian Mbappé who were born in our working-class neighborhoods in Cameroon because there are talents in our territories to be valued”, estimates Samuel Eto’o.

Cameroon were beaten 1-0 at home by Algeria in the first leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification play – offs and tension has mounted in the camp of the Indomitable Lions who failed to host and win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

Samuel Eto’o was speaking at the National Days of the Diasporas and Africa and made the strong remark.

Recently Anthony Elanga of Manchester United decided to represent Sweden at the international level as he rejected the country of origin of his father.
