Championship side Bristol City have wished Antoine Semenyo well after the Ghanaian completed his transfer to Premier League side Bournemouth on Friday evening.
The 23-year-old signs a four-and-a-half-year contract with the Cherries, keeping him at the Vitality Stadium through June 2027. Additionally, Bournemouth has the choice to give him a one-year contract extension.
Semenyo joined Bristol in 2017, and since then, he has made 125 appearances for them. He had a total of 21 goals and 21 assists while playing with the Robins.
With six goals and three assists throughout the 2022–23 season, the Ghanaian has been among Bristol’s greatest performers. Semenyo is the only player to have scored more goals in the Championship this year than Nahki Wells.
Confirming the player’s transfer, Bristol City wrote in an official statement, “Semenyo arrived at City as a 17-year-old after being spotted at SGS College by then Loans Manager Brian Tinnion and Academy staff in 2017.
“Since then he has experienced a remarkable five-and-a-half-year rise, including loans at Bath City, Newport County and Sunderland, and has developed into one of the most threatening forwards in the Sky Bet Championship.
“Everyone associated with the club is very proud of Antoine and wishes him all the best in the next stage of his career in the Premier League,” the statement concluded.
The forward was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and becomes Bournemouth’s third signing in the January transfer window.
