The dates for the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to be held in Cote d’Ivoire, have been confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Originally slated for June 2023, the tournament was postponed due to weather conditions and will now begin on Saturday, 13 January 2024 at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.

The tournament, featuring 24 African countries competing for the ultimate prize, will last for four weeks and conclude on Sunday, 11 February 2024. This will be the 34th edition of the tournament, which returns to Cote d’Ivoire for the second time since it was first held there in 1984. Cameroon won that inaugural event.

The six countries that have already qualified for the tournament, in addition to hosts Cote d’Ivoire, are Morocco, Algeria, South Africa, defending champions Senegal, Burkina Faso, and Tunisia.

The remaining countries will be determined during Gameweek 5 and Gameweek 6 of the qualifiers to be held in June and September 2023.

CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba, has also confirmed that the Final Draw for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2023 Cote d’Ivoire will take place in September 2023, with the date and location yet to be announced.
