The Access Bank Division One League play-off final between Techiman Eleven Wonders FC and Bofoakwa Tano FC will take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, May 30, 2023.

Both teams have a storied history in the Premier League, but while Eleven Wonders suffered relegation last season, Bofoakwa Tano have been out of the top flight since the 2006/07 season and see this as a significant opportunity to make a return.

Bofoakwa Tano FC engaged in a fierce battle with Young Apostles for a spot in the championship, and their impressive performance in the second round gave them a comfortable 15-point lead in Zone One B. This led to their qualification four weeks ago as they clinched the Zone with 63 points.

In the 28 league matches, Bofoakwa Tano won 20, lost 5, and drew 3, showcasing their superiority over Young Apostles, Wamanafo Mighty Royals, and Nkoranza Warriors to secure the sole qualification spot in the zone.

The team from Sunyani is now aiming to secure their first Premier League qualification in 16 years. Striker Sakaa Dauda finished the season as joint top scorer with 9 goals, sharing the top spot with Amponsah Aveo (Berekum Arsenal) and Bismark Kyeremeh of Wamanafo Mighty Royals.

Bofoakwa Tano has a rich history in Ghanaian football, having won the SWAG Cup in 1975 and producing notable players such as Kwesi Owusu (a member of the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations-winning team), Osei Boateng, Joseph Derchie, Dan Owusu (three-time league top scorer in 1974, 1975, and 1976), and Opoku Sampene, who later played for Asante Kotoko.

Techiman Eleven Wonders secured their place in the play-off final by outperforming Debibi United and Steadfast FC, accumulating 52 points from 28 matches and finishing five points ahead of Debibi United to win Zone One A. After experiencing relegation last season, Eleven Wonders are determined to make a quick return to the Premier League.

Eleven Wonders concluded the campaign with two of their players occupying the top two positions in the top scorers chart in Zone One A. Andrews Kumah finished as the top scorer with 10 goals, propelling the club to the top spot, while Osman Zackaria netted 8 goals to secure the second position.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 3 pm and will be broadcast live on Max TV. It will also be streamed on the Facebook and YouTube pages of the Ghana Football Association.
