Hearts of Oak ‘counting’ on Medeama for Ghana Premier League survival

Hearts of Oak, the former champions of the Ghana Premier League, are currently embroiled in a tense battle to avoid relegation as the Ghana Premier League season nears its end.

Following a string of disappointing results, Hearts of Oak find themselves clinging to a slim three-point lead above the relegation zone. Their recent form has been marred by six defeats, a lone draw, and only three victories in their last 10 league matches. A significant blow to their morale was the recent 2-1 home loss to Real Tamale United.

With just one game remaining, their position in the top-flight hangs in the balance. The fight to secure the final relegation spot is intense, with several other clubs, including Karela United, Accra Lions, Legon Cities, Tamale City, and Great Olympics, also battling to secure their safety.

Hearts of Oak’s fate will largely be determined by their upcoming match against Berekum Chelsea. A draw in this crucial fixture would be enough to secure their survival, but a defeat would leave them dependent on the outcomes of other matches.

Complicating matters further, four of the clubs, excluding Tamale City, will be playing at home and are considered strong contenders for victory.

If these clubs succeed in winning their respective matches while Hearts of Oak falters, the former champions would require assistance from other teams, particularly Medeama SC, who are set to face Tamale City.

The ability of Medeama SC to avoid defeat will not only impact their own pursuit of the league title but could also have a significant influence on Hearts of Oak’s destiny.

As the final matchday approaches, all eyes will be on the encounter between Medeama SC and Tamale City, as their performance could hold the key to Hearts of Oak’s survival.
