Sporting Lisbon youngster Fatawu Issahaku headlines Black Meteors 29-man squad for CAF U-23 Championship

Portugal Primera Liga side Sporting CP Lisbon youngster, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku headlines Ghana’s Black Meteors team for the upcoming 2023 CAF U-23 Championship in Morocco.

The former Steadfast United FC player who was named the best U20 player at the 2021 CAF Youth Championship in Mauritania when Ghana emerged winners of the competition.

He scored the only goal in the home and away tie for the Black Meteors against the Green and Whites of Algeria to secure a place in the tournament that starts on June 24.

Black Meteors are in the same group as hosts Morocco, Guinea and Congo Brazzaville in Group A in a tournament that starts on 24th June.

Ghana will kick off their tournament with a game against Congo on June 25, before battling hosts Morocco and Guinea on June 27 and June 30 for a place in the semi-final.

The 2023 TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations will be staged in Morocco between June 24 and July 8, 2023.
