Danish club Odense Boldklub, have reached an agreement with Dutch-Ghanaian full-back Leeroy Owusu, who will join the club on a three-year contract.

The 26-year-old joins the club after recently leaving Willem II following the expiration of his contract.

”With Leeroy we get a back who can play on both sides. He is an experienced player and at an age where the expectation is that he will play his best football from day one, said Director of football Björn Wesström.

”During the scouting process, I got to know him as a very professional player who has a great desire to keep developing, both as a player and as a person. We are very much looking forward to starting work with Leeroy when the new season starts up again.”

Leeroy has had his daily life in Dutch football, where he already became part of the academy at AFC Ajax as a seven-year-old, and here he played until U21. He has since represented several Dutch clubs, including De Graafschap, Excelsior.

In total, Leroy has over 300 matches in the top Dutch leagues, 99 of which are in the Eresdivisie, but now he faces new challenges in Denmark.

”I am happy to now switch to Odense Boldklub. I have had some good talks with the management, who were very clear and well informed about me,” Leeroy Owusu said.

”This is my first time abroad, and it is incredibly exciting. New team, new stadium, and of course I’m looking forward to meeting the club’s fans. The support the club has at the stadium looks really good and I can’t wait to play there.” Owusu concluded.

He is expected to start training with his new teammates on June 26.
