Medeama SC has successfully obtained the license to compete in the 2023-24 CAF Champions League following their fulfillment of all the Club Licensing criteria.
The First Instance Body (FIB) carefully reviewed Medeama’s application, taking into account the five prescribed criteria set by CAF. The club demonstrated compliance with the Sporting, Legal, Infrastructure, and Personnel and Administrative Criteria.
Considering the overall assessment, Medeama met the requirements for the approval of their license application. The FIB unanimously granted Medeama the license to participate in the 2023-24 CAF Interclub competitions.
In addition to securing their license, Medeama also announced a partnership agreement with Fiase Golden Royal FC as the official women’s team of the club, which is another prerequisite for obtaining the license.
This achievement marks Medeama’s return to continental football after their previous appearance in the 2016 season, where they reached the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Notably, they advanced to the group stage by eliminating prominent South African club Mamelodi Sundowns in the playoffs. In the group stage, they were pitted against MO Bejaia, TP Mazembe, and Young Africans.
