French side AS Monaco officially submit bid for Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu

According to Football Insider sources, Southampton has received an offer from Monaco for the signing of Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu.

Talks between the two clubs are currently underway, with a potential deal being sought after Salisu fell out of favor at St Mary’s towards the end of last season.

Following their relegation from the Premier League, Southampton is looking to offload several players, and Salisu is among those likely to depart this summer.

Everton had previously expressed a strong interest in signing Salisu, as they were in need of a left-sided central defender and had identified him as a top target.

With Salisu’s contract expiring in 2024, Southampton may have to consider selling him at a reduced price to avoid losing him for free.

Despite the possibility of a miraculous Premier League escape, Southampton recognizes the vulnerability of losing Salisu this summer.

Salisu had a solid season for Southampton, playing over 2,400 minutes across 28 appearances and contributing one assist. However, a recurring hip injury has kept him out of action in recent weeks, with his last appearance coming in a 3-3 draw against Tottenham on March 18th.
