Ghanaian rising star, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, has been left out of Sporting CP’s preseason squad for the upcoming 2022/23 football season.
The 19-year-old joined the club two years ago on a long-term contract until 2027.
While he has shown great promise and impressed in the youth team, Fatawu Issahaku has struggled to establish himself in the first team.
Last season, he made only 12 senior appearances, which hasn’t been enough to convince manager Rúben Amorim of his potential.
As a result, the talented midfielder was not included in the squad that traveled for preseason preparations. There are reports suggesting that he might not continue with Sporting CP, as the club has set a €15 million price tag on him.
Recently, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku represented the Black Meteors in the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations. Unfortunately, they couldn’t secure qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Looking ahead, Issahaku will be seeking a new challenge elsewhere for the upcoming season to further develop his skills and continue his football journey.
