FC Zurich’s head coach, Bo Henriksen, has openly discussed the challenge the club is encountering as they strive to discover a player of superior caliber to Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.
Despite the notable performances displayed by the Ghanaian forward in the initial three matches of the season, Henriksen affirmed that the club remains actively engaged in the pursuit of a new striker.
The departure of Nigerian attacker Tosin Aiyegun to French Ligue 1 side Lorient prompted FC Zurich to heighten their efforts in searching for a suitable replacement.
Nonetheless, Afriyie’s unwavering consistency and impactful contributions since the season’s commencement have rendered the task of finding a more accomplished player increasingly arduous for the team.
Henriksen’s sentiments were recently reiterated following FC Zurich’s impressive 3-0 triumph over Lugano, in which Afriyie’s two goals played an instrumental role in securing the victory.
In the aftermath of the match, Henriksen lightheartedly remarked, “Right now, I’m looking for at most a glass of wine or a beer.” However, he swiftly shifted to a more serious tone, acknowledging, “We will certainly continue to search for a striker. But now it has become more difficult to find someone better than Daniel.”
