Kelvin Ofori, the young Ghanaian midfielder, made his mark on Wednesday as he found the back of the net for FC Spartak Trnava during the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifications clash against SK Dnipro-1.
In the initial leg of the final round of qualifiers at the City Arena Trnava, the Slovakian team found themselves deadlocked in a 1-1 tie with the Ukrainian side.
Taking center stage was the 22-year-old Ghanaian midfielder who broke the deadlock, propelling Trnava ahead just ten minutes into the second half. The catalyst for this goal was Czechia midfielder Erik Daniel, who threaded a precise pass to Ofori on the right wing. Ofori exhibited patience, infiltrated the penalty area, and unleashed a shot that ricocheted off a defender and found the back of the net via the crossbar.
Dnipro-1 managed to level the score in the 67th minute through a converted penalty, credited to Oleksandr Pikhalyonok. The visiting team’s fortunes took a downturn as they finished the game with only nine players, with Eduard Sarapiy receiving a red card in the 5th minute and Igor Kogut being sent off in the dying moments of the match.
Throughout the Europa Conference League qualifications, Ofori has showcased commendable form for Trnava, tallying two goals in five appearances thus far.
