Following the successful completion of his move from Ajax Amsterdam, newly signed West Ham United player Mohammed Kudus has expressed his dedication to giving his best for his new team.
After weeks of negotiations, the Hammers officially announced the acquisition of this promising player on Sunday, and he is expected to don the No14 jersey.
In a five-year contract that remains confidential in terms of the fee, the Black Stars midfielder has become the third major signing for the Club this summer, joining former Ajax teammate and Mexican international Edson Álvarez and English midfielder James Ward-Prowse.
Although the specific transfer fee hasn’t been revealed, reports suggest a fee of €43 million, potentially increasing to €46 million with additional components.
Arriving in London on Saturday to finalize his transfer to the English team this summer, the 23-year-old signed a five-year contract with the option of extending for another 12 months, following a successful medical over the weekend.
“I’ve been dreaming to play in a league like this since I was a kid,” said Kudus, who will wear the No14 shirt at West Ham.
“I’ve been dreaming of this moment and I’m so happy to be here. But it doesn’t stop here, I want to keep going.
“I try my best to entertain the fans as I think that’s what football is all about. I’m just here to do my best and help the team. I’m really happy to be here. I will fight for the badge. I can’t wait to get started.”
Kudus originally joined Dutch giants Ajax in the summer of 2020, inking a five-year deal after transitioning from Danish club FC Nordsjælland.
During his time at Ajax, the Ghanaian international racked up 87 appearances for the first team and netted 27 goals. His tenure with the club resulted in winning the Eredivisie title twice (in 2021 and 2022), in addition to securing the Dutch Cup once (in 2021).
