Raphael Dwamena, born on September 12, 1995, in Nkawkaw, was a Ghanaian professional striker.

In 2017, he was diagnosed with a heart condition, leading to the implantation of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) in January 2020 while at Levante UD.

Health Complications:

In October 2020, Dwamena faced concerns when the ICD indicated high values, prompting Vejle Boldklub to withdraw him from team activities. A year later, during an Austrian Cup match, he collapsed but was quickly stabilized after the ICD administered a shock.

Raphael Dwamena’s Career:

In the 2016–17 season, he showcased his talent at FC Zurich, scoring 12 goals in 18 matches, a key factor in their triumph in the Swiss Challenge League, earning them promotion to the Swiss Super League.

June 2017 marked his debut for the Ghana national team, securing a 5–0 victory over Ethiopia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where he netted twice.

Although slated to join Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2017, pending a successful medical examination, a cardiac issue prevented him from completing the transfer.

Returning to FC Zurich in the 2017–18 season, he impressively scored 13 goals in 32 appearances, aiding the team to a fourth-place finish in the Swiss Super League and qualification for the UEFA Europa League. He rejoined the club in January 2018.

August 2018 saw him signing with Spain’s Levante, but his tenure was hampered by injuries, featuring in only 17 matches over two seasons, scoring once.

In September 2020, he embarked on a loan spell with Denmark’s Vejle Boldklub. Throughout the 2020–21 season, he played 16 matches, scoring three crucial goals that helped Vejle Boldklub avoid relegation from the Danish Superliga.

January 2023 witnessed his move to Albania’s KF Egnatia, where he made an impactful start, contributing four goals in 10 matches during the 2022–23 season.

Raphael Dwamena’s wife and kids

Mavis Acheampong, who came from Ghana and worked as a nurse, was purportedly Raphael Dwamena’s wife.

According to rumours, the couple tied the knot in a small ceremony in Accra, Ghana, in December of 2019.

Mr. Raphael Dwmena Children: Does anyone know if Raphael Dwamena has any children?

It is said that Raphael Dwamena only had one child, a son who was born in March of 2020 and was given the name Raphael Dwamena Junior.

Failed Move to Brighton & Hove Albion:

Despite a successful spell, Dwamena’s planned move to Brighton & Hove Albion in August 2017 collapsed due to a failed medical caused by a heart condition, and he continued with FC Zürich.

Tragic Passing:

On November 11, 2023, during a match between Egnatia and Partizani in the Albanian Superliga, Dwamena, 28, suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed in the 23rd minute of the first half.

Despite efforts, he passed away en route to Kavajë Hospital, leading to the suspension of football and sports events in Albania.
