Patrick Amoako Sefa, the father of the late footballer Raphael Dwamena, is urgently seeking assistance from football authorities to facilitate the repatriation of his son’s remains to Ghana.

Dwamena tragically lost his life on November 11th during a match between KF Egnatia and KF Partizani in the Albanian Superliga.

At 28 years old, Dwamena passed away at the Kavaja hospital. The incident occurred on the pitch during the match between Egnatia and Partizani at Rrogozhina when he fell unconscious in the 23rd minute.

Efforts were made to provide first aid on the field by players and medical personnel, and he was subsequently transferred to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to a heart attack.

Reflecting on the tragic news, Patrick Amoako Sefa shared with Peace Fm in Accra, “When we heard the news, it wasn’t easy; the whole family was very sad and crying, but by God’s grace, we are still holding our faith.”

Having communicated with Dwamena’s wife, Sefa explained the logistical challenges, stating, “She said there is no Ghana Embassy in Albania, so they are making preparations to look for a flight to Turkey before we can bring the body.”

In this difficult time, Sefa is appealing to the Ghana Football Association for support, expressing the family’s desire to bring Dwamena’s body back to Ghana. He emphasized the need for assistance and the extended planning process, concluding with a request for prayers from Ghanaians.

“So now it has our turn to help and it will keep long I am appealing to the Ghana Football Association to help the family we wish to bring the body to Ghana and look at how we will all plan. What I will say is that Ghanaians should pray for us,” he added
