Ampem Darkoa Ladies, the Ghanaian team, is set to receive a reward of $200,000 following their qualification for the semifinals of the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Having emerged victorious with a 3-1 score against Huracanes Football Club from Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, the WAFU B champions secured their spot in the next round of the tournament.
Tracey Twum netted two goals, and a late goal from substitute N-Yanimaya Gnabekan sealed the win for Ampem Darkoa Ladies.
This successful advancement guarantees Joe Nana Adarkwa’s team a substantial prize of $200,000 in their inaugural appearance in the competition.
As they progress to the knockout stage, the Ghanaian side has the opportunity to compete for even more rewards in the upcoming rounds. Making it to the final would secure a minimum total prize of $250,000 if they finish as runners-up. Winning the third edition of the competition would not only grant them the coveted trophy but also a cash prize of $400,000.
The introduction of prize money for the competition occurred last year during the second edition in Morocco, following the inaugural edition in Egypt in 2021, where no monetary rewards were involved.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies will face Sporting Club Casablanca in the semifinals on Wednesday, November 15, as they aim to secure a spot in the last two.
