George Owu, 41, has revealed how challenging it was for him initially when he joined Asante Kotoko in 2002.

The ex-Black Stars goalkeeper in a one-on-one interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah said, “It was a tough challenge for me when I joined Asante Kotoko from Hasaacas.

“Osei Boateng and Louis Quainoo were the top Keepers when I joined Asante Kotoko so it was very tough for me.

“Osei Boateng unfortunately was banned for 1 year after which I got the opportunity to play, said George Owu.

2023 AFCON: Losing Mohammed Kudus for a month will be disappointing – West Ham manager David Moyeshttps://t.co/c4TMgVMm12

A violent attack on Bernard Asare, a player of Power FC in the 24th Week league match between Kotoko and Power FC led to the ban of Osei Boateng.

George Owu spent three years at Kotoko and was part of Kotoko’s team that won the Ghana Premier League in 2003 under the tutelage of Abdul Razak for the first time in 10 years.

Owu praised Asante Kotoko for being a wonderful club that cares about players’ welfare. “I still owe Asante Kotoko a loan as we were given money that was to be deducted from our salaries every month before I left for Ashgold. I had not settled my loan by the time of leaving but Kotoko never requested for the loan”, added Owu.
