Per Micky Junior, one of the leading journalists in African football, Andre Onana was extremely furious for not being selected for the matchday squad against Guinea on Wednesday afternoon in which Cameroon drew 1-1.

Rigobert Song was not happy with Onana’s late arrival and therefore decided to not select him as Fabrice Ondoa got the nod to start for the Indomitable Lions.

“I have a lot of things to say but I won’t say it here because we are in a competition. The most important thing is the sacred union. We are here to win AFCON”, said Onana.

The 27-year-old Manchester United goalkeeper pleaded with Cameroonian fans to support them in the 2023 AFCON.

“I ask the supporters to support us in good times and bad. I am one of the leaders so I take my responsibilities and that is why I am here. I don’t want people to criticize the youngest”, continued Onana.

Andre Onana revealed the amount of criticism he has been receiving from football fans with his decision to delay his arrival for the AFCON.

“Let people continue to criticize me, I’m used to it, I do what is good for my country. It’s like choosing between my father and my mother, but my country comes first, that’s why I’m here. We’re together, concluded Onana.

Cameroon will play their second group game on Friday against Senegal and Andre Onana is expected to start ahead of Fabrice Ondoa.
