It remains a mystery to many people why Toni Conceicao was sacked and replaced by Rigobert Song.

This decision by Samuel Eto’o and the Cameroonian FA was wrong as it has been shown clearly in the 2023 AFCON.

Cameroon finished 3rd in the 2021 AFCON under the tutelage of the Portuguese manager Toni Conceicao. He was immediately sacked after the 2021 AFCON in February 2022 and Rigobert Song was appointed.

The former Cameroon skipper has not lived up to expectations as his Indomitable Lions are in danger of not qualifying for the knockout stage.

Per information emanating from Cameroon, the FA has decided to end Song’s contract soon after the AFCON.

Rigobert Song, 47, qualified Cameroon for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Rigobert Song is one of Caneroon’s all-time best players and he made 137 appearances for the national team in a career spanning 17 years. He won two AFCONs and played in 4 FIFA World Cups.
