Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has shockingly revealed that the Atlas Lions of Morocco were not good enough in the group stages and hence, South Africa is capable of beating them.

“The Moroccan national team was not good in the group stage. We followed them and knew very well that we were capable of beating them”, said Hugo Broos.

Morocco won 7 points from a possible 9 as they thrashed Tanzania 3-0, drew 1-1 with DR Congo and narrowly defeated Zambia 1-0 to finish on top of the group.

Four Moroccan players made the official CAF Best Xl of the group stage but Hugo Broos thinks that they were not good enough.

Hugo Broos, 71, was very optimistic about the Bafana Bafana eliminating the Atlas Lions of Morocco on Tuesday night in San Pedro.

“We did this a little while ago and we have no doubt we will do it again. My confidence in us making the quarter-finals is high”, added Hugo Broos.

Belgian tactician Hugo Broos won the 2017 AFCON with Cameroon. He will face Walid Regragui’s Morocco on Tuesday evening.
