Alan Kyerematen, a presidential hopeful running independently and leading the Movement for Change, firmly believes that Ghana possesses the potential to clinch the FIFA World Cup. However, he underscores the necessity for a comprehensive overhaul of the nation’s sports scene to make this dream a reality.

Speaking to Akoma FM in Kumasi, Kyerematen stressed the crucial need for substantial changes in governance, particularly within the sports sector. He reiterated, “I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – we need a significant shift or transformation in our governance, including sports.”

Kyerematen firmly believes that Ghana can ascend to World Cup victory when there’s a substantial transformation in its sports arena. He envisions a future where Ghana emerges triumphant on the global stage.

His vision for Ghana’s sports industry revolves around his ‘Great Transformation Plan (GTP),’ a comprehensive strategy aimed at rejuvenating national morale and propelling the nation to unprecedented heights, including in the realm of sports.

Kyerematen’s assertion comes in the aftermath of the Black Stars’ dismal showings in recent international tournaments, notably the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, where they failed to notch a single win and exited in the group stage for the second consecutive tournament.

Furthermore, the national team’s inability to progress beyond the group stage in the 2022 World Cup has reignited calls for reforms within the sports sector.

Kyerematen remains steadfast in his belief that his GTP plan holds the key to revitalizing Ghana’s sporting prowess and positioning the nation as a formidable contender on the global sports stage.

As the 2024 elections loom, Kyerematen’s “Great Transformation Plan” stands poised to sway voters, offering a compelling vision for the future of Ghana’s sports landscape and national pride.

While the realization of his ambitions remains uncertain, Kyerematen’s unwavering determination to revolutionize Ghana’s sports scene has ignited enthusiasm among sports enthusiasts and citizens alike.
