Ghanaian youngster Rufai Mohammed is delighted after he inked a four-year deal with Swedish outfit Elfsborg IF, transitioning from his previous club, Inter Allies, in the lower tiers of Ghanaian football.

Rufai’s eagerness to embark on this new chapter was palpable, evident in his words of enthusiasm shared with the club’s website.

“I’m very happy to be here. The people I’ve met in and around the team are amazing and very helpful,” Rufai expressed, reflecting on his initial impressions of his new surroundings.

His journey to Elfsborg began with a brief visit in the spring of 2023, where he trained alongside the U19 squad and participated in matches with the U21 team. Even then, Rufai harbored a strong desire to return and officially don the Elfsborg jersey.

“Even then, I felt strongly that I wanted to come back and become an Elfsborg player for real,” Rufai reminisced, illustrating the sense of belonging he felt with the club.

Reuniting with former teammate Jalal added to Rufai’s excitement, as they had previously shared the pitch for Inter Allies FC. Anticipation filled the air as Rufai looked forward to partnering with Jalal once more, acknowledging his companion’s prowess on the field.

“Jalal and I got to play about a season together in Inter Allies FC first team before he left, and it will be a lot of fun to play with him again. He’s a really good player,” Rufai remarked, showcasing his camaraderie with his fellow footballer.

Rufai’s journey also includes representing Ghana’s youth national team in various competitions, including the WAFU tournament, where he served as captain, guiding the team to a commendable third-place finish.

“When we took third place in WAFU I was captain and got to lead the team, it was a great experience and one I will take with me,” Rufai reminisced, cherishing the memories of his leadership role.

Describing himself as a player, Rufai emphasized his physical attributes and defensive prowess, highlighting his commitment to hard work and continuous improvement.

“I’m tall, strong and I like to play in the backline. I always work hard because I demand a lot from myself and I always want to develop and improve,” Rufai stated, outlining his strengths and dedication to his craft.

Now joining Elfsborg’s first squad, Rufai eagerly anticipates contributing positively to the team’s success, expressing optimism about the future and his readiness to commence this new chapter.

“I’m positive about the future and can’t wait to get the chance to fight and contribute with good things for the team and the club. I just want to get started for real now,” Rufai concluded, brimming with anticipation for the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead in his career with Elfsborg IF.
