Assistant coach of the Black Satellites, Odartey Lamptey, has voiced his eagerness to step into the role of coaching the senior national team, the Black Stars, when the opportunity arises.

Having served as an assistant coach for six months, Lamptey emphasized his availability for such a responsibility. Despite lacking a traditional classroom education, Lamptey believes his extensive practical experience and contributions to football, including establishing an academy a decade ago, have equipped him with the requisite skills to lead the Black Stars.

He cited the facilities he has established and the young talents he has nurtured as evidence of his competence. In an interview with Peace FM, Lamptey stated, “I stated not today that my door is always open because I know what I can give back yes I did not sit in classroom fine but I have been able to put up a school. Every work that you do you have to educate yourself it is not only in theory so my door is always open”

He continued, “When I started saying this it is not today I wanted this opportunity long ago the little time had now six months into this appointment. Yes apart from that when I look at the academy I have established for the past 10 years, if I look at whatever I have given back, facilities I have put up, children I have produced i know what i can offer”

Lamptey highlighted the educational aspect of football, noting that while some may possess diplomas, practical experience is equally valuable. He referenced football legends Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah, who have excelled in the sport despite not necessarily holding formal qualifications.

Lamptey concluded, “And experience I have in football every when they say diploma anything that is education wise in football somebody like Abedi Pele has it, Tony Yeboah has it you can’t take it away from them we have it. What remains now is to get the opportunity and the believe to be able to do it,”
