Joshua Kofi Acheampong, the 17-year-old English-born Ghanaian, marked a milestone in his career with a standout debut for Chelsea in their 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.
Under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino, Acheampong’s confident display at right back, replacing Alfie Gilchrist in the 85th minute, showcased his readiness for the senior stage, highlighted by four successful blocks, the most in the game.
Expressing his joy on Instagram, Acheampong shared, “Proud moment for me and my family to make my Chelsea debut, a moment I’ve dreamed of for a long time. Thank you to the coaches for putting their trust in me and the fans for their continued support.”

His rapid ascent through Chelsea’s ranks underscores his potential, with his pace, tenacity, and versatility allowing him to shine as a center-back, right-back, or wing-back.
This season, he has already made significant contributions to Chelsea’s U18 side, scoring once and providing three assists.
Following his impressive performances, Acheampong earned his first call-up to the senior squad in January 2024, gaining valuable experience as an unused substitute.
With his professional contract extending until 2026, Acheampong is poised for more opportunities as Chelsea navigates their defensive challenges.
