For the second consecutive time, Ethiopia Nigd Bank midfielder Umar Bashiru has been shortlisted for the 2023/24 Ethiopian Premier League Player of the Year award.
The Ghanaian midfielder must contend with stiff competition from five other players, including his teammate Fetuhdin Abdul Karim, Chernet Gugsa of Bahir Dar FC, Kenean Makenen of Defence Force FC, Shemeles of Defense Force FC, Ali Suleman of Hawasa City FC, and Biniam Woleyta of Dicha FC.
The winner will be announced in August. Bashiru had a remarkable season, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists in 30 appearances for Ethiopia Nigd Bank.
This is his second season with the club, after previously playing for Asante Kotoko, WAFA, and Karela FC.
