Berekum Chelsea’s owner, Bernard Nana Yaw Amofa Jantuah, has confirmed that the club has extended the contract of head coach Samuel Boadu, keeping him at the Golden City Park for the next two years as they set their sights on winning the Ghana Premier League title in the upcoming season.
The 38-year-old Boadu stepped in as head coach midway through last season on a short-term deal, replacing Christopher Ennin, who resigned in the early stages of the second round. Under Boadu’s guidance, Berekum Chelsea finished the season in third place, amassing 51 points—equal to second-placed Accra Lions.
In an interview with Kessben FM, Nana Jantuah confirmed the earlier reports from Kickgh.com, stating that Boadu has been retained with a two-year contract, as the club is determined to clinch the league title next season.
“We should have won the Ghana Premier League title last season, but our coach’s departure in the second round derailed our chances. We have signed a two-year deal with coach Samuel Boadu, and the focus now is to win the league title next season,” said Nana Jantuah.
Berekum Chelsea is currently in Kumasi for pre-season preparations, aiming to be fully prepared for the new campaign, which kicks off next month. Despite being eligible, the club recently withdrew from the ongoing GHALCA Top 4 tournament to focus on their preparations.
