Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has shared his optimism about the squad’s quality and depth as they prepare for the upcoming 2024/25 Ghana football season.
The Porcupine Warriors have significantly strengthened their team by signing over 10 new players following the departure of 21 players.
After a pre-season friendly against Medeama SC, where Kotoko narrowly lost 2-1 at the T&N Park, Coach Ogum commented on his team’s potential. “There is so much quality in the team. We have to make sure that we give them the courage and confidence to be able to express themselves anytime we give them the opportunity,” he said. He added, “The quality is there, there is depth in the team, and it is good for Kumasi Asante Kotoko.”
In the match against Medeama, Kofi Babil and Prosper Boakye scored for the opposition in the 21st and 89th minutes, while Kotoko’s Bernard Somuah found the net in the 62nd minute.
Asante Kotoko is aiming for a strong season after a challenging previous campaign where they finished 6th with 49 points in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League. They will kick off their new season with an away game against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
