English National League side Southend United has completed the signing of English-born Ghanaian midfielder Keenan Appiah-Forson on the final day of the summer transfer window.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who scored once in 27 appearances while on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge last season, joins the Shrimpers on a two-year contract.
Appiah-Forson, who spent eight years at Premier League club West Ham United, expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge: “I’m very happy to be here, and I’m ready to just go for it. I’ve trained with the team, and I’ve really enjoyed seeing how we work and play. I’m really excited.”
The energetic box-to-box midfielder will go straight into the squad for Southend United’s upcoming match against AFC Fylde, eager to make an impact at both ends of the pitch. “I’m more of a box-to-box midfielder,” Appiah-Forson said. “I can do both attacking and defending jobs, so I’ll be up and down the pitch.”
Despite his English upbringing, Appiah-Forson remains eligible to represent Ghana at any level in the future, adding an international dimension to his promising career.
