Manchester City defender Joško Gvardiol has heaped praise on West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, describing him as a player with the potential to become a global football star.

Gvardiol spoke about his experiences playing against Kudus, who impressed him with his pace, trickery, and skill.

In their first encounter on September 16, 2023, Gvardiol was surprised by Kudus’s impact on the game. Despite coming on as a substitute, Kudus gave him a tough time and showed his quality on the field. Gvardiol recalled that Kudus’s pace and ball control stood out, and he was able to make a significant difference in the game.

Their second encounter, which was the final game of the 2023/2024 season, saw Kudus score an impressive bicycle kick, which left Gvardiol in awe.

“Mohammed Kudus from West Ham was my toughest opponent,” Gvardiol said. “In the first game, he was on the bench, and when he came on for the last twenty minutes, he was on my side. I realized that he was quite good. He looks sharp and was good on the ball. In the second game of the season, he even scored a bicycle kick. He was the one I struggled against.”

Gvardiol has sent a message of encouragement to Kudus, wishing him an excellent 2024/2025 season and hoping that he will establish himself as one of the world’s best players. “I think he is the one who deserves attention, and I believe this season he’s going to come out and show his quality,” he said.

Kudus’s impressive debut season in England saw him score 14 goals and provide six assists across all competitions. With his talent and dedication, it’s clear that he has the potential to become a global superstar in the world of football.
