African football giants Ghana, Morocco, and Senegal were all in action on Monday in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, with mixed results shaping the group standings.

Ghana remains winless in Group F after conceding a late equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Niger in Morocco. The Black Stars took the lead through Alidu Seidu, but Oumar Sako’s 80th-minute goal salvaged a point for Niger, leaving Ghana frustrated as they search for their first victory in the qualifiers.

In Group L, Senegal secured their first win with a narrow 1-0 victory over Burundi in Malawi. Ismaila Sarr’s 71st-minute penalty was enough to claim the three points, moving the Teranga Lions up the standings after a hard-fought encounter against a resilient Burundi side.

Morocco, playing in Agadir, clinched a dramatic 1-0 win over Lesotho thanks to a stoppage-time goal by Brahim Diaz. The Atlas Lions now sit comfortably at the top of Group B after winning their opening matches in the campaign.

Angola continues their impressive form in Group F, sitting at the summit with six points after a 2-1 victory over Sudan in Luanda. Goals from Randy Nteka and Mabululu secured the win, giving Angola a perfect start with two victories from two matches.

Elsewhere, DR Congo earned a 2-0 win over Ethiopia in Tanzania, with Theo Bongonda and Fiston Mayele finding the back of the net to place the Leopards on top of the Group H standings.

Monday’s 2025 AFCON Qualifiers Results:

  • Lesotho 0-1 Morocco
  • Ethiopia 0-2 DR Congo
  • Angola 2-1 Sudan
  • Niger 1-1 Ghana
  • Equatorial Guinea 2-2 Togo
  • Burundi 0-1 Senegal
  • Madagascar 1-1 Comoros
  • Uganda 2-0 Congo Brazzaville
