Sudan national team captain Ramadan Agab Shareif Ferein has revealed his strong desire to play for Ghanaian football giants Asante Kotoko before he hangs up his boots.
Agab, who Sudanese giants Al-Merrikh SC, has expressed admiration for Kotoko’s stature and rich footballing history, stating that playing for the club is a dream he hopes to fulfill in the near future.
Eric Amponsah, the goalkeeper’s coach for the Sudan national team, recently shared Agab’s sentiments on Kessben FM. Amponsah revealed that Agab views Asante Kotoko as “huge” and emphasized that his desire to join the club is not driven by financial gain. Instead, Agab values the prestige and legacy associated with wearing the Kotoko jersey, stressing that “a good name is better than money.”
“He says he has to play for Kotoko because Kotoko is huge. He said that It is not always about the money but the name stressing that a good name is better than money,” – Eric Amponsah revealed.
Agab, who has had a distinguished career with the Sudan national team and his club, is keen on securing a move to the Kumasi-based club as part of his footballing journey.
The 35-year-old led Sudan to qualify for the 2025 AFCON to be held in Morocco and leading their World Cup qualifying group. He has netted three goals in six games in the qualifiers.
