Scottish Premier League side Ross County have confirmed the signing of Ghanaian goalkeeper Jordan Amissah on a short-term contract.

The 23-year-old joins the Staggies as cover following a knee injury to first-choice goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw, who is expected to be sidelined for at least two months. Amissah will compete with Jack Hamilton for the number one spot at Victoria Park.

Born in Germany to Ghanaian parents, Amissah developed through the youth systems of Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund before moving to English side Sheffield United. While at Sheffield, he had loan stints at Guiseley, Spennymoor Town, and Burton Albion. He became a free agent in the summer after being released by the Blades.

Ross County manager Don Cowie expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, saying, “We are delighted to add Jordan to the group. With Ross Laidlaw out for a period of time, we felt it was really important to bring in another goalkeeper.”

Amissah, who will wear the number 18 shirt, was part of Ghana’s U23 team that reached the quarterfinals of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.

His signing bolsters Ross County’s goalkeeping options as they look to maintain their competitiveness in the Scottish top flight.
