Andre Ayew reacts to Le Havre’s heavy loss to Strasbourg, calls for support amid tough times

Ghana forward Andre Dede Ayew has admitted Le Havre Athletic Club’s 3-0 home defeat to Strasbourg was a difficult result for the team to accept, as they continue to struggle in the 2024-2025 French Ligue 1 season.

The defeat marks Le Havre’s 11th loss in 15 games, intensifying pressure on the club as they battle to avoid relegation. Ayew, who was introduced in the 64th minute, had limited impact during his 26-minute cameo, registering five touches and completing three out of four passes.

Speaking in a post-game interview, Ayew acknowledged the frustrations of Le Havre’s fans, who voiced their displeasure by booing the players at the Stade Océane. He, however, called for unity, stressing the importance of the supporters during this challenging period.

“It’s not easy to be at home and hear that; to see that the fans are not happy, but I understand them. We give everything, and they also give everything. We are all in this situation together. We cannot give them the wins right now, and that’s what they really expect,” Ayew said.

The Black Stars captain urged the fans to stick with the team, promising that the players are determined to turn things around.

“We are going to try to make them happy, but we really need them. Without their support, it’s going to be complicated. I know they are still with us, but in difficult times, we need them even more. I can assure them that we are going to do everything, and by May, Le Havre will still be in Ligue 1,” he added.

Ayew has featured in eight Ligue 1 matches this season as Le Havre fights to regain form and climb out of the relegation zone.
