Former Ghana Football Association Vice President George Afriyie has expressed his disappointment over Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Black Stars’ underwhelming performance in the qualifiers has left them out of Africa’s premier football tournament, a development that has drawn widespread criticism.

“Twenty-four countries out of the 54 African nations are going to compete for a trophy, and Ghana is not part. It is very disappointing,” Afriyie said during an interview with Peace FM.

The absence of the Black Stars from the tournament for the first time in years has sparked concerns among football fans, with many calling for urgent reforms to address the team’s struggles. Stakeholders now face increasing pressure to implement measures that can restore the team’s form and reputation.

Despite this setback, there is hope for redemption as Ghana shifts its focus to the World Cup qualifiers. Although the campaign has begun on a challenging note, it provides an opportunity for the Black Stars to reclaim their place on the global stage.
