Former Ghana Football Association Vice President George Afriyie has spoken about efforts to secure a sponsor for the Ghana Premier League, a subject of growing concern among football stakeholders.
Addressing the issue during an interview on Peace FM, Afriyie elaborated on his earlier comments about assisting the league, which has been without a sponsor for an extended period. His remarks have sparked debates about the way forward for Ghanaian football.
“I did an interview with Patrick Oduro on Metro TV, and he asked me the way our football and other things are going, what do I think I will be able to do to help. And I said now we all have to admit Kurt has failed, and we all have to help him. We have to admit that is what you have asked me too this morning,” Afriyie clarified.
The Ghana Premier League has been facing financial challenges due to its sponsorship drought, raising concerns about its long-term sustainability. Afriyie’s comments come at a time when stakeholders are seeking collaborative solutions to restore the league’s reputation and attract investors.
His call for collective action highlights the need for unity in addressing the league’s struggles, which could pave the way for securing sponsorship and rebuilding confidence in Ghanaian football.
