Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Ogum has urged fans to rally behind the team as they gear up for the second half of the Ghana Premier League season.
His appeal comes as the Porcupine Warriors aim to maintain their position at the top of the table in an increasingly competitive title race.
Kotoko concluded the first round of the season with an impressive 34 points, securing 10 wins, four draws, and four losses. The team is also on a remarkable six-match winning streak across all competitions. However, despite their success on the field, Kotoko has struggled to attract larger crowds to their home games.
After a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Karela United at the Baba Yara Stadium, Ogum highlighted the vital role fans play in the team’s quest for glory. “The fans have been amazing. They support us when we do well and criticize us when we don’t. But now, as we enter the second half of the season, we need them more than ever,” he said.
Ogum further appealed for increased attendance at home games, emphasizing the impact of fan support. “They should come in their numbers, especially at home, and offer emotional and social support to help us get the job done,” he added.
As the league heads into its final stretch, Kotoko holds a narrow one-point lead over second-placed Bibiani GoldStars. With the title race heating up, the coach believes the support of the fans could be the key to securing another league triumph.
