Issah Amadu, the long-serving and highly respected Equipment Officer of Asante Kotoko, and Rahman Alhassan of Hearts of Oak have been appointed as members of the Black Stars’ backroom staff.
Their inclusion brings decades of experience to Ghana’s senior national team as part of efforts to revamp the technical setup.
Amadu, who has served as Asante Kotoko’s kit manager for over 30 years, has earned this role through his exemplary work ethic, humility, and dedication. He will collaborate with his counterpart from Hearts of Oak, Rahman Alhassan, to oversee the team’s logistical and equipment needs. Together, the duo brings a combined 53 years of expertise to the Black Stars.
The role of kit managers is crucial to the team’s preparations, ensuring that all equipment and kits are organized and ready for both training sessions and matches. The appointments of Amadu and Alhassan signal a strategic move to enhance the Black Stars’ operational efficiency.
These changes are part of a broader overhaul by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), aimed at rebuilding the national team following their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The GFA, after conducting a detailed technical review, has restructured the team’s setup to inject experience, discipline, and professionalism.
“The GFA is committed to revitalizing the Black Stars and ensuring the team is adequately prepared for upcoming challenges,” the association stated, highlighting the need for expertise and local knowledge to drive this transformation. The appointments align with Ghana’s ambition to reclaim its dominance in African football and make a mark on the international stage.
As the Black Stars prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March, all eyes will be on the restructured technical team to deliver results. The changes represent a renewed sense of purpose for the national team as they aim to restore pride and success to Ghanaian football.
