Tony Yeboah’s 28-year London goal record stands as Erling Haaland falls short against Spurs

Ghanaian legend Tony Yeboah remains the only Premier League player to score the most goals in London in a single season while playing for a non-London club, after Erling Haaland failed to break his record on Wednesday night.

Yeboah netted eight goals in London during the 1995-96 season while playing for Leeds United, a feat that has stood for 28 years.

Haaland, who had a chance to surpass the record when Manchester City faced Tottenham, needed a brace to equal Yeboah’s tally but failed to find the net twice.

The Norwegian striker has one more opportunity to match or break the record when City travel to Fulham later in the season.

Until then, Yeboah’s remarkable achievement remains intact, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest African strikers in Premier League history.
