Dr. Ogum voices disappointment over Kotoko’s poor form ahead of Nations FC clash

Asante Kotoko head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has voiced his frustration with his team’s recent dip in form as they prepare for a crucial Ghana Premier League showdown against city rivals, Nations FC.

Addressing the media during a pre-match press conference, Dr. Ogum did not hold back in expressing his concern over Kotoko’s struggles, labeling the team’s sudden drop in performance as unexpected and troubling.

“It is not typical of us… if you look at where we peaked up to, our performance, where we got to and the results that we were getting, we least expected a sudden turn around or turn over in terms of performance and results so I’m not happy at all. I’m disappointed,” he admitted.

The Porcupine Warriors have gone three matches without a win, managing only two draws and suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Accra Lions. The poor run has seen them slide from the top of the table down to third place.

Dr. Ogum pointed to the uncharacteristic nature of the recent performances as a major concern, especially considering the momentum Kotoko had built earlier in the campaign.

With their next challenge coming on Sunday, April 20, against second-placed Nations FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Stadium, Kotoko faces added pressure to turn things around. Their away record doesn’t inspire much confidence either—two draws and four defeats in their last six outings on the road.

The upcoming clash is expected to be a fiercely contested encounter, with both sides vying for crucial points in the title race. Ogum’s candid remarks signal a clear call for his players to step up and reclaim their early-season form.
