Lucas Ribeiro is yet to fulfil his talent, per his childhood coaches. They had immense belief in his left foot, hence considered him to reach the upper echelon of world football like his fellow Brazilian stars.
The 26-year-old joined Sundowns in July 2023 and has become a key figure of the team, where coaches have fallen in love with his talent. The amount involved in his deal from Belgium to South Africa was undisclosed, but sources say the Brazilians paid around $3M for his signature from Beveren.
French side Saint-Etienne is ready to submit an offer in the region of 2.5M Euros for the Brazilian forward. Ribeiro’s versatility makes him a useful footballer as he can play across all three front positions in attack and also as number 10. Ribeiro sometimes drops a bit deeper to the number 8 role because he is very comfortable on the ball and can also handle it well under pressure.
Sundowns will be attempted if any club will offer any amount around $5M even though they would love to keep him.
At the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup, Ribeiro has dazzled capturing the eyes of football loving fans with his delightful passes and dribbling. The forward in Sundowns 403 defeat against German giants Dortmund was to hot to be handled as he scored a beautiful solo goal which could contend for the goal of the tournament.
Back in South Africa, fans have been calling for his inclusion in the Bafana Bafana with the final decision set to be taken by head coach Hugo Broos.
