Leicester City have been eliminated from the 2025/26 Carabao Cup after a 3-2 penalty shootout loss to Huddersfield Town, with Ghana captain Jordan Ayew missing a crucial spot-kick.
The match at John Smith’s Stadium ended 2-2 in regulation time, but Ayew’s miss — the Foxes’ first in the shootout — proved decisive as Huddersfield converted their chances to progress.
Leicester, coming off a 2-1 Championship win over Sheffield Wednesday, twice gave up the lead during the game.
Ayew, known for his penalty-taking ability, came on in the 82nd minute for Patson Daka and played just nine minutes before the shootout. In that time, he made six touches, completed three of four passes, and had one shot off target.
Fellow Ghanaian, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, was an unused substitute for Leicester.
