Legendary striker Asamoah Gyan has expressed his disappointment over Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The Black Stars finished bottom of their group without a single win, ending a run of more than 20 years of consistent AFCON participation.
Speaking at the 2025 CAF Awards, Gyan acknowledged the strength of the teams heading to the tournament. He highlighted Nigeria, Ivory Coast, and Morocco as favourites, while noting that Ghana’s focus will now shift to preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Meanwhile, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi was named CAF Player of the Year at the ceremony.
