Mohammed Fuseini is ready to play again for Union St Gilloise after recovering from an injury that kept him out for two months. The Ghana winger will be available for Saturday’s league match against Cercle Brugge. His comeback brings relief to the Belgian champions as they enter an important week.
The 23-year-old picked up the injury in September and has spent several weeks working on his recovery. The setback forced him to miss Ghana’s World Cup qualifiers in September and October. It also slowed his progress in a season where he was expected to play a bigger role for his club.
Union St Gilloise have still managed to stay top of the league after 14 games, but Fuseini’s absence was strongly felt. The Right to Dream Academy graduate became a key player last season, helping the club win their first league title in 90 years. His pace and direct style of play make him one of the team’s most exciting attackers.
The timing of his return is important for Union. After the game against Cercle Brugge, they will travel to Turkey for a tough UEFA Champions League match against Galatasaray on Tuesday. Fuseini had made only two appearances this season before getting injured but is now expected to add fresh energy to the squad.
Fuseini earlier impressed during the Unity Cup Games in London in May, and his club shared a video of him back in training last week. His comeback gives both club and country renewed hope as the busy part of the season continues.
