“They like taking pictures with ladies after games” – Charles Taylor slams Kotoko players for lack of professionalism amid title struggles

Former Asante Kotoko talisman Charles Taylor has launched a blistering attack on the club’s current squad, accusing the Porcupine Warriors of misplaced priorities and a lack of professionalism as their title challenge falters.

Speaking on Angel FM, Taylor, who is also a cult hero at Hearts of Oak, did not hold back, targeting the players’ focus and discipline. He alleged that Kotoko stars are more preoccupied with post-match selfies and socialising than delivering results on the pitch.

“Kotoko players like taking pictures with ladies after games too much. That’s why they easily lose concentration,” Taylor said. “They don’t care about the environment. You see them taking photos with women even after defeat. Hands around them, hugging them and smiling. Any serious professional will avoid women after matches to prevent distractions and drama. But they simply don’t care.”

Taylor’s comments come as Kotoko’s domestic campaign hits turbulence. The club currently sits fourth on the Ghana Premier League table with 31 points, six behind leaders Medeama SC. After briefly halting a four-game winless streak with three consecutive victories, the Porcupine Warriors have stumbled again, failing to win their last two matches.

The recent results have reportedly sparked unrest at boardroom level, with the Interim Management Committee (IMC) holding crisis meetings amid growing debate over the future of head coach Karim Zito. Taylor’s remarks have only added fuel to the fire, reflecting concerns among fans that the squad lacks the discipline and hunger required to reclaim domestic dominance.

With pressure mounting on both players and technical staff, the coming weeks may prove decisive for Kotoko — either a turning point that revives their title hopes or further turmoil for the club
