American-Ghanaian forward Patrick Agyemang delivered a commanding performance as Derby County secured a 2-0 victory over Swansea City, strengthening their push for Championship promotion.
The centre-forward capped an impressive display with Derby’s second goal in the 67th minute. Agyemang darted across the box to meet Callum Elder’s low cross, slotting it into the far corner to put the game beyond Swansea’s reach after Rhian Brewster had opened the scoring just after halftime.
Agyemang was at the heart of Derby’s attacking play throughout the match. His direct running constantly stretched Swansea’s defence, making him the most fouled player on the pitch with five fouls conceded. He also won a match-high 11 duels, providing an outlet for Derby to relieve pressure and launch dangerous counters.
Behind him, a disciplined backline and assured goalkeeping from Josh Vickers ensured that Swansea’s 72% possession failed to yield a goal.
In the 2025/26 Championship season, Agyemang has featured in 28 matches, scoring 10 goals and registering 3 assists, underlining his importance to Derby’s promotion ambitions.
Derby County now turn their attention to an away clash at Watford on Saturday, February 21, looking to maintain their strong run of form.
