Norwegian club Molde FK, have announced the permanent signing of Ghanaian striker Jalal Abdullai from IF Elfsborg. The Lanky forward has signed a four-year contract that runs until the 2029 season.
Jalal made his mark during the 2025 season on loan at Molde, where he recorded 8 goals and points in 22 games. With his enormous physique and extreme speed, he was a source of concern for defenders. During last year’s meeting with Bodø/Glimt, he was measured at a top speed of an incredible 37.1 km/h – the fastest speed ever measured at Aker Stadion.
According to the Ghanaian forward, he feels very comfortable in Molde, and he describes the club as a family.
“I am very happy to be here. The way I was treated last year made it feel like family, and I have never experienced anything like it in my entire life. I turned down many other clubs to come back to Molde. Even my mother told me that if I am happy here, I have to go back, Jalal told moldefk.no.
Sports director Ole Jakob Strandhagen is very satisfied that the negotiations with Elfsborg have progressed, even though the process has required patience.
“We are very happy to have Jalal back to Molde. He is a player we know very well, and he has always been clear that he wanted to come back. We greatly appreciate that, and it is also a tribute to the entire club, says Ole Jakob.
The sports director further explains the framework surrounding the transfer:
“Elfsborg initially did not want to sell Jalal. We of course respect this, which made the process difficult. It was resolved in the end, and we thank Elfsborg for being so solution-oriented. We had an option that we chose not to exercise in December due to the overall economics of the agreement, but we have now put in place an agreement that we could accept, even though it is still a significant investment.
Huge potential
Jalal possesses qualities that make him a constant threat, something Ole Jakob looks forward to further refining.
“Jalal has extreme speed and a strong presence in the box. He is a player with an X-factor and enormous potential. Now it is up to both the club – and not least the player himself – to unleash this potential. It will be very exciting, and something we are really looking forward to, concludes the sports director.
Ready to contribute in blue and white
Jalal is looking forward to putting on the blue and white jersey again – and he is really looking forward to tomorrow’s cup match against Bodø/Glimt.
– I hope and pray that we win the game tomorrow so that we get the opportunity to play in Europe. This is our chance to play in Europe in the fall and I hope that as many people as possible come tomorrow to support us, says the Ghanaian.
The new signing sends a clear message to supporters:
“I’m really looking forward to the start of the season and to seeing our fans again. We need your support and we won’t let you down. We’ll score lots of goals and make you happy!”
