Former Accra Hearts of Oak SC striker Daniel Afriyie Barnieh delivered an impressive performance after coming off the bench to score in FC Aarau’s convincing 3–0 victory over Étoile Carouge FC in the Swiss Challenge League.

The Ghanaian forward needed only 25 minutes on the pitch to make a strong impact, sealing the win with the third goal of the match in the 85th minute during the week 25 fixture of the league campaign. His strike ensured a comfortable victory for his side in the away encounter and further highlighted his growing influence in the team.

Afriyie Barnieh was introduced in the second half and quickly added energy and attacking threat to FC Aarau’s frontline. His late goal came after a well-timed attacking move that caught the opposition defence off guard, allowing him to calmly finish and put the result beyond doubt.

The former Hearts of Oak talisman has been enjoying an outstanding season in Switzerland. His latest goal means he has now contributed directly to 14 goals this season, scoring nine times and providing five assists in 24 league appearances. His consistent performances have played a crucial role in FC Aarau’s strong campaign in the Swiss second-tier league.

Following the latest victory, FC Aarau have strengthened their position near the top of the table. The club currently sits second in the standings with 56 points after 25 matches, keeping them firmly in the race for promotion.

They remain just three points behind league leaders FC Vaduz as the competition enters its decisive stages.
Afriyie Barnieh’s contribution in the match earned him a solid rating of 7.1, reflecting his effectiveness despite playing only a short period in the game.

The Ghanaian attacker has steadily become one of FC Aarau’s key performers this season, often providing crucial goals and assists. His ability to influence matches even when coming off the bench has made him an important option for the team’s technical handlers as they continue their push for promotion.

Afriyie Barnieh’s success abroad remains encouraging. Since leaving Accra Hearts of Oak, the hardworking forward has continued to demonstrate his attacking qualities and determination in European football.

With several matches still to be played in the Swiss Challenge League season, FC Aarau will be counting on the Ghanaian forward to maintain his impressive form as the club aims to close the gap on the league leaders and secure a return to top-flight football.
