Swedish Superettan side Helsingborgs IF have confirmed the signing of German-born Ghanaian striker Kevin Appiah Nyarko on a one-year contract.

The 24-year-old forward arrives on a free transfer after parting ways with Finnish top-flight club SJK Seinäjoki, where he previously featured in the Veikkausliiga. His move marks a return to Swedish football following an earlier stint with Varbergs BoIS.

In a statement announcing the signing, Helsingborgs confirmed that the club had reached an agreement with Nyarko to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the season.

Nyarko, who is of Ghanaian heritage, was born in Germany and spent much of his early life in the United Kingdom. During his youth career, he developed at Wolverhampton Wanderers, progressing through the club’s academy system before featuring for a number of lower-tier clubs in London.

At the age of 19, the forward made the move to Sweden to join Gottne IF, where he began his professional journey in Scandinavian football.

Speaking after completing the move, Nyarko expressed his excitement about returning to Sweden and joining a club with a strong football tradition.

“I am very happy to come back to Sweden and to join such a big club. I am really looking forward to getting started,” he told the club’s official website.
“I have heard many positive things about the club from different people who have been here. Everyone talks about the passionate supporters and a city that truly loves football. That passion really attracted me. It is also great to work with Stevie again because he taught me a lot during the time we worked together.”

Head coach Stevie Grieve also welcomed the signing, highlighting his familiarity with the player and the qualities he brings to the squad.

“I know Kevin very well from our time together in Finland and understand what he can bring both on and off the pitch,” Grieve said.
“He will add something different to our attacking options with his physical presence and unique playing style compared to the other strikers in the squad. I’m delighted to work with him again and look forward to seeing his impact on the pitch.”

Despite being born in Germany, Nyarko remains eligible to represent Ghana national football team at international level through his Ghanaian parents.
