“I am very happy to come back to Sweden and to come to a big club like Helsingborgs IF” – Kevin Appiah Nyarko

German-born Ghanaian forward Kevin Appiah Nyarko has expressed his delight after completing a move to Swedish Superettan side Helsingborgs IF, describing the club as a “big team” with passionate supporters.

The 24-year-old striker has joined Helsingborgs on a one-year contract following his departure from Finnish top-flight club SJK Seinäjoki, where he previously competed in the Veikkausliiga. His arrival marks a return to Swedish football after an earlier stint with Varbergs BoIS.

Speaking after sealing the transfer, Nyarko revealed that the opportunity to play for Helsingborgs and the club’s strong football culture were key factors behind his decision.

“I am very happy to come back to Sweden and to come to a big club, so I am really looking forward to getting started,” Nyarko said after being unveiled by the club.

“I have heard many good things about the club from several different people who have been here. Everyone has mentioned that it is a big club with many supporters and a city that truly loves football. I was attracted by that passion.”

The striker also highlighted his excitement about reuniting with head coach Stevie Grieve, whom he previously worked with during his time in Finland.

“It is also fun to work with Stevie again. He taught me a lot during the time we worked together, and I am looking forward to continuing that relationship here,” he added.

Nyarko’s football journey has taken him across several countries. Born in Germany to Ghanaian parents and raised in the United Kingdom, he developed through the youth ranks of Wolverhampton Wanderers before continuing his career in Scandinavia.

Despite representing clubs across Europe, the forward remains eligible to feature for the Ghana national football team, making him another potential option for the Black Stars in the future.
