Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has spoken of a boost in confidence after being crowned the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month winner for February 2026.
The Leicester City winger earned the fan-voted award for his superb half-volley in an away fixture against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.
The 22-year-old described the recognition as motivation to keep improving and contributing to the team’s objectives, noting that personal accolades push him to deliver more on the pitch.
Despite the individual honour, Fatawu stressed that his priority remains Leicester’s league position, admitting he is not fully satisfied due to the team’s current standing.
“Winning this award gives me confidence and makes me want to do more for the team,” Fatawu told EFL media.
The award-winning goal highlighted his technical quality, as he expertly controlled a high clearance with his chest before striking a clean, well-timed volley past the goalkeeper.
“It is hard to get too happy about it, though, as I want us to be in a better position than we are,” he added.
This latest accolade is his second Goal of the Month award of the 2025/26 season, following a previous win in August.
Lead judge Don Goodman praised the strike for its timing and execution, describing it as a fine example of precision and technique.
Fatawu has been in strong form this season, registering 9 goals and 7 assists in 37 appearances, and remains focused on finishing the campaign strongly with his side.
